Zumbrota, Minnesota, is residence to the state’s solely remaining practical, authentic lined bridge. In-built 1869 by the Stafford Western Immigration Firm, the bridge was constructed to facilitate commerce and journey for early settlers. Initially spanning the North Fork of the Zumbro River, the bridge was relocated a number of instances attributable to numerous circumstances. In 1932, it was moved to the Goodhue County Fairgrounds, and in 1997, it was positioned in its present location in Coated Bridge Park, roughly 100 yards from its authentic website.
The bridge measures 123 ft in size. A historic signal reads, “$10 Wonderful for Driving Sooner Than a Stroll Throughout This Bridge,” although as we speak it’s open solely to pedestrians.
Every year, the city celebrates the Coated Bridge Pageant on the third weekend in June, honoring this distinctive piece of Minnesota’s Nineteenth-century historical past.
