A 3-member bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath reaffirmed the instructions issued by the Rajasthan HC in August for elimination of stray animals from roads. On Friday, the SC prolonged the excessive courtroom's order to all states and Union Territories. The bench mentioned it has instructed that the instructions issued by the Rajasthan HC vide its August order are “reaffirmed to the extent that public works division, municipal authorities, street and transport authorities to take away cattle from highways and expressways and instantly rehabilitate them in shelters”. The highest courtroom mentioned “every authority shall represent a devoted freeway patrol group to report stray cattle on highways and different expressways. All nationwide highways shall have helpline numbers to report presence of stray animals. Chief secretaries of all states shall guarantee strict enforcement of those instructions”.
The SC additionally directed that government-run in addition to non-public academic and well being establishments needs to be fenced to deal with the menace of stray canines. Such establishments requiring fencing needs to be recognized by the states inside two weeks, the bench ordered.
