The city of Scenic was named for its picturesque setting.
Within the twenty first century, financial decline led native businesswoman Twila Merrill to amass many of the city. In 2011, the 46-acre space was listed on the market at $799,000, together with a number of buildings and a historic prepare depot.
That August, the property was bought by the Philippine-based Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) church for practically $800,000, although they didn't disclose their causes for the acquisition.
By 2014, little growth had occurred, however in 2015, an INC minister started main companies for a small native congregation.
