Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the loss of life of Indian-origin author and economist Meghnad Desai, and lauded his position in deepening India-UK ties.
Desai, who was a member of the UK's Home of Lords, handed away on Tuesday on the age of 85.
In a submit on X, Modi stated, “Anguished by the passing away of Shri Meghnad Desai Ji, a distinguished thinker, author and economist. He at all times remained related to India and Indian tradition.”
“He also played a role in deepening India-UK ties. Will fondly recall our discussions, where he shared his valuable insights. Condolences to his household and pals. Om Shanti,” the prime minister stated.
In 2020, Desai had resigned as a member of the UK's Labour Social gathering over its failure to successfully deal with antisemitic racism inside its ranks.
