Striker Lucas Akins has returned to Mansfield City following his launch from jail, the League One membership has confirmed.
The 36-year-old was jailed for 14 months in April after pleading responsible to inflicting the loss of life of a bicycle owner by careless or thoughtless driving.
Adrian Daniel, 33, died 10 days after he was struck by a Mercedes G350 being pushed by Akins close to Huddersfield in March 2022.
It's understood Akins has been launched after serving half his authentic sentence with the rest to be served on probation.
In a statement,, external the Stags mentioned: “In step with rules of rehabilitation and reintegration, the membership is of the view that Lucas, having served his sentence, needs to be afforded the chance to renew his skilled profession.”
The membership added they'll “proceed to supply applicable help as he returns to the first-team setting”.
