New Delhi: SC was knowledgeable on Thursday that an FIR has been registered in opposition to former Union minister's son Ashish Mishra and others by the UP Police in Lakhimpur Kheri for “threatening a witness” in reference to the 2021 Tikunia violence case.
The counsel for the UP authorities apprised a bench of justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi that the assertion of the witness was recorded and an FIR filed underneath sections 195A, 506 and 120B of IPC. The counsel stated an officer of the rank of DSP was deputed to document the assertion of the stated witness who verified that there was some type of strain on him (witness).
On a request by Mishra, the bench additionally allowed him to go to his hometown Lakhimpur Kheri for Diwali pageant celebrations.
