Mike Brown was solely delivering on what he'd promised, OK? This was the eve of his first Knicks-Nets Interborough Squabble, the primary time he would coach in opposition to his outdated protégé and pal, Jordi Fernández, every man main one among New York's two NBA groups.
(And sure, as of 10:37 Sunday evening, the Nets had not but been relegated and so remained an NBA group — in concept, at the least.)
Anyway, that is what Brown had mentioned in anticipation of this collision between mentor and mentee:
“It's nice, I'm simply glad for him and his household. He's a fantastic younger coach. He's obtained a younger group, clearly, in order that they've obtained to determine issues out. Anytime I get an opportunity to see him, I all the time like to see him, however I need to kick his ass.”
