Hurricane Priscilla was strengthening late Sunday within the Pacific Ocean with heavy rain and gusty winds threatening coastal areas of southwest Mexico.
Priscilla had most sustained winds of 80 mph and was headed north-northwest at 3 mph, the US Nationwide Hurricane Middle in Miami stated.

The hurricane was about 260 miles south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, and about 450 miles south-southwest of Baja California.
Heavy rainfall and gusty winds affected coastal southwestern Mexico with flash flooding attainable, the middle stated.
Priscilla was producing ocean swells which will trigger harmful surf and rip currents in southwestern and western Mexico and southern Baja California.
A tropical storm watch was issued for a part of the coast of southwestern Mexico, from Punta San Telmo to Punta Mita, with tropical storm situations within the space Sunday and Monday.

Rainfall of as much as 6 inches was attainable in areas of the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco.
One other storm properly off Mexico within the Pacific, Octave, turned a hurricane Sunday with no landfall within the forecast and no coastal watches or warnings.
Octave's prime winds have been 85 mph and it was anticipated to steadily weaken Monday.
