Replays is not going to be used throughout the full rounds of the 2025-26 FA Cup marketing campaign.
Historically, when FA Cup resulted in a draw previous to the semi-finals, opponents would face one another in a replay to resolve which group would progress to the following spherical.
Final season, replays have been scrapped throughout the full rounds of the competitors, and the FA have opted to maintain that in place for this season.
Replays have been used throughout the qualifying rounds for this season. The ultimate spherical of qualifying noticed seven ties go to replays, with three of them being received by groups in decrease divisions than the aspect they beat.
From the primary spherical onwards, matches that finish in a draw will go to extra-time, and if wanted, a penalty shootout.
The FA introduced the choice in April 2024 and mentioned that “all events accepted” that there was a have to take away replays.
“Eradicating Emirates FA Cup replays was mentioned within the early conferences and all events accepted that they may not proceed,” the FA mentioned on the time.
“The discussions then targeted on the right way to make all of our competitions stronger, regardless of having fewer dates accessible and wanting to take care of participant welfare.”
In response, the EFL mentioned that they weren't consulted and that the choice was “agreed solely between the Premier League and FA.”
