HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Brad Marchand is stepping away from the Florida Panthers to assist a good friend whose daughter died final week of most cancers.
Marchand, 37, is serving as a visitor coach Wednesday night time for the under-18 March and Mill Co. Hunters in his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, instead of good friend JP MacCallum. Marchand is a co-owner of the staff.
The sport is a fundraiser for the household after the lack of 10-year-old Selah Panacci-MacCallum and features a raffle for an autographed Marchand jersey.

“Please be a part of us in celebrating a tremendous night time on the rink made doable by the continuing giving nature of a ten year-old lady that cherished the sport with all her (coronary heart),” Marchand posted on Instagram.
Paul Graham, the league president, lauded the transfer by Marchand.
“This gesture displays the true spirit of the hockey group in Nova Scotia, one constructed on compassion, loyalty, and connection that extends far past the rink,” Graham said in a press release, in keeping with The Chronicle Herald. “Our ideas are with J.P., his family members, and your entire Hunters group.”
Panacci-MacCallum handed away final Friday following a year-long battle with most cancers.

Marchand missed Florida's game Tuesday night in opposition to Anaheim. Coach Paul Maurice expects Marchand to be obtainable when the back-to-back defending Stanley Cup champions face Dallas on Saturday.
A two-time Stanley Cup champion, Marchand is in his second season with the Panthers after being moved by the Bruins forward of the NHL commerce deadline in March.
