Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a year-long commemoration of Vande Mataram to mark 150 years of the nationwide tune.
At an occasion held on the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, he additionally launched a commemorative stamp and coin to mark the event.
The programme marks the formal starting of the nationwide celebration, from November 7, 2025, to November 7, 2026, honouring 150 years of the enduring composition that impressed India's freedom wrestle and continues to embody nationwide pleasure and unity.
Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra Chatterji on Akshaya Navami, which fell on November 7, 1875. The tune first appeared within the literary journal Bangadarshan as a part of Chatterji's novel Anandamath.
